Hey, welcome fellow Bible bangers to the only podcast that goes chapter by chapter, line by line, through the word of God. This is Depth Charge number seven. The Master Key. Every page of Scripture points to one person. Jesus said, Search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me. John 5 39. The Bible is not a collection of disconnected stories, it's the revelation of Jesus Christ. And nowhere is that revelation seen more clearly than in the four gospels. Four portraits, one Christ. And these portraits are not merely information, they are keys. Keys that unlock deeper study, keys that help us recognize what the Spirit is emphasizing on every page. See the King in Matthew, see the servant in Mark. See the Son of Man in Luke, see the Word made flesh in John. And the gospels begin to open up before your eyes. Matthew opens with a throne, the book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David. Matthew 1, 1. His genealogy follows the royal line through David and the kings of Judah. Again and again, Matthew proclaims, The kingdom of heaven, the King is come, the promised Son of David, the rightful heir to the throne. Matthew shows his crown. Mark reveals the servant. Mark moves with urgency, immediately, straightway, again and again, no delays, no distractions, only service. For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10 45. Mark shows his towel. Then Luke opens another window. Luke traces Christ's lineage through another branch of David's house, and there the lions meet in David, the throne and the promise, the shepherd and the king. The key of David, because every line points to Christ, every promise points to Christ, and every door opens through him. Not emphasizing a throne alone, but the Son of Man, moving among the broken. The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which is lost. Luke 19 10. The compassionate Savior, the mediator, the perfect man. Luke shows his compassion. John pulls back the veil. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1 1. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. John 1 14. Not merely a king, not merely a servant, not merely Son of Man. God manifest in flesh. God shows his glory. Matthew shows his crown. Mark shows his towel. Luke shows his compassion. King, servant, son of man, God. Four portraits, one Christ. All scripture testifies of him. The master. The master key. Fellow Bible bangers, your depth charge has been delivered.
